Not sure what you mean by lightest kind. Do you mean which lead gives the lightest impression? or which type of pencil weighs the least?

There are many grades of pencils with varying types of leads, that range from a very hard lead to a very soft, almost charcoal texture. Try googling up HB or Dixon (pencil manufacturers) and take a look at the range of product they offer.

9H is the hardest. Pencil lead is based on this scale:

9H 8H 7H 6H 5H 4H 3H 2H H F HB B 2B 3B 4B 5B 6B 7B 8B 9B
Hardest → Medium → Softest

Get an "A".

Actually, the lead gets lighter as the number goes up.
