I don't think that the animal wants to be killed and eaten as much as the animal offers its self for the survival of others, the ultimate sacrifice, or gift. there are cases of humans dieing to save an animal or risking there life to save an animal. some see all life as equally important.May be some animals feel the same way for us.
From my own personal experience when i was hunting many years ago.Yes people can call animals, some hunters are better than others because of this, and yes even though i am not to sure how or why it works animals will give them selves to humans. that is why when an animal is killed in some country's it is Honoured for its sacrifice of flesh and the gift of knowledge it gives to the person that killed it.
it will sound strange to you when i say the animal gives the gift of knowledge to the person that killed it, but in my case the gift was becoming aware of how important life is, even the life of an animal.
like Candi or Jesus the animal can sometimes give its life so others can be enlightened to the value of life.
and if you look at the Bible even Jesus did the same when in church you hear, this is my body (the body of Christ) eat
this is my blood (the blood of Christ) drink.
The thought of killing even by accident now sickens me.

Show me a myth that says that animals want to be killed and eaten by the hunter. Animals simply -are- killed and eaten by hunters, whether human or another animal. Personally, the way I see it is this, a deer in the woods has a hell of a lot better chance of survival than a cow in a slaughterhouse.

For more on this, pick of a copy of Ishmael, great book.
