The body's response to cold environments is to vasoconstrict the peripheral vasculature (to reduce the diameter of blood vessels). This vasoconstriction is in place to reduce blood flow to the area, and thus minimize heat loss to keep warmth at the body's core.

brain freeze occurs when you eat ice cream fast, or you continue to eat fast by several spoonfuls without stopping and you get a Headache real fast in the front or back of your head that you have to actually hold your head to feel better.. You need to drink some water right away, which will seem warm after eating frozen ice cream....Or a warm drink of somekind...
