I myself think it is 50k and up.20k is poverty level now 30k is on the bottom of the middle class now and the way everything is getting more expensive i would almost say that that is more in poverty level.

... I'll give two numbers...
a city number, and a non-city number
not in a city... probably 30,000-80,000 (with 80,000 being upper middle class)
in a city, probably tack on about 30,000 to those numbers...being 60,000 -110,000...
overall, according to the census... only 20 percent of America makes over $80,000, so much above that would probably be leaving the middle class in most instances...

Low middle income comes in around 50k so anything above 65k/75k will be considered middle class, upper middle 75k to 100k.

Depends on where you live. 50k in Northern VA or SF for example is chump change. 20k in rural Va is livable.
