Seems to me, sending a rocket to land on Mars and having a robot maneuver on the Martian surface has to be a lot tougher than sending men to the moon. So, wouldn't it follow that this is also a NASA hoax? Where are the conspiracy theories on this one?

Are you kidding me? Our government couldn't even cover up Watergate, let alone faked Mars landing. It would be easier to pull off a mission to Mars than it would be to fake it and keep it secrete.

Regarding the moon landings:

Although my wife's father performed fuel calculations for the original Apollo landing, I'll spare you that speech. Instead, I will encourage you to watch two programs. The first show is called Conspiracy Moon Landing that it currently showing on the National Geographic Channel and it pretty much obliterates all of the popular conspiracy theories.

I would also encourage you to watch a movie called Capricorn One. Made it 1978, it is a fictional story about a fake mission to Mars. Although it is a science fiction story, it is a good example of how utterly impossible it would be to fake a moon landing for any length of time.

12 men walked on the moon from 1969 to 1972 and we have neither the resources nor the technology to pull off that big of a hoax for so long. Hundreds of thousands of people have worked on the space program. It would be far easier to put someone on the moon than to try and fake it and keep it secret for nearly 40 years.

The landings came at a time when our space program was ultra competitive with the former Soviet Union. Remember how big of a deal it was when Sputnik was put into orbit? They had the technology to monitor our moon shots and transmissions. Don't you think they would have called us out if they had evidence that it was all fake?

Perhaps the most definitive proof of our trip to the moon is what we left behind. For the last 35+ years, scientists have been beaming lasers to the moon and measuring the return times. How are they doing this? The beams are reflected back by equipment left on the moon on at 3 different locations.

Case closed.

Sure, the US faked the moon landing, and they faked landing 2 rovers on Mars (and for the past 3 years have been faking hours and hours of footage from the 2 rovers as they explored the planet).
And of course they MUST be faking those thousands of images from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Oh...maybe they faked the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 spacecraft and the images they sent back of Jupiter and Saturn a few decades ago.
And maybe they faked the images from the Cassini mission to Saturn (plus the Huygens probe images from the surface of Titan).
What else are they faking - the Kennedy assassination, the tsunami in Indonesia, the SARS epidemic, AIDS, global warming, the decline of human intelligence (no, that they aren't faking, just read some of the questions posted here)...?

Sending an unmanned vehicle to Mars is NOWHERE near as difficult as protecting fragile humans in the harsh environment beyond the earth.
One of the main benefits to humanity of the space program is advanced technology and computer sciences that are developed to do things like the Mars rovers, the Cassini probe, and all the other things that some people just won't accept.

Well, did you fake this question?
We landed on Mars in an interesting way (bouncing a ball with the lander inside), while landing in no atmosphere (reaching zero miles per hour at zero altitude) is tougher. The idiots are still focus sing on the moon and 9/11 and missed Mars. No humans involved.

I don't listen to conspiracy "theories" so I can't answer that part of your question. But we've sent many space craft to Mars - wouldn't be hard to fake all of them. And you're right, it is more difficult to send something to Mars than it is to send it to the Moon. That's partly why half of the missions to Mars have failed somewhere along the way (which, in turn, is why we haven't sent any humans there yet).

Oh, and NASA isn't the only space agency that has sent space craft to Mars.

robots not humans we have sent robots to mars its no a hoax there are just peple wh like to think everything is impossible except what you can see physically rather then on t.v its real a robot on mars not that hard just calculate the time to launch enter martion atmosphere inflate balloons surronding the rover apply retro rockets drop the ball let it bounce stop deflaet solor panels on rover open up gets power and its on its way oh and bob is wrong I mean why would te governmet even spend a penny to something that was not real I mean come on if you can't be ther to see it its not real I don't think so

No. You can see pictures of the Mars landers taken by the Mars Global Surveyor.

Please look into orbital mechanics. It's really not all that hard to land a probe on another planet - we've been doing it for 60 years. Just because YOU don't know how to do it doesn't mean no one could ever possibly figure it out.

I am not american. I do not think NASA lies. They did not fake when moon landings and they did not fake when their robots landed and maneouvered in Mars. And I am not a believer in everithing. Instead, for instance, I do think that Bush, Blair and Aznar were telling us lies to invade Irak. And Bush administration continued lying all the time to get americans afraid enough to get its purposes.

Amen! Did those people just forget about all this? How can somebody meet a physicist or aerospace engineer, working on these projects today, and still think Apollo 11 was a hoax?!?

AAAAAAH!!! So frustrating.

Of course. NASA does nothing but fake things in a movie studio.

I'll just bet you thought those pictures from Hubble were real.

Or the ones of Saturn from Cassini.
