All symptoms of a normal pregnancy are usually much more severe in a multiple pregnancy. You usually show quicker. My biggest symptom was extremely tired. But the only foolproof way to tell is ultrasound. Fraternal twins are much more likely to occur. Let your Dr know that twins run in your family and he or she may let you have an ultrasound early to find out.

Even at 8 wks, and even if it were twins, you are still early to be showing especially if this is your first pregnancy. Most likely you are bloated from the surge of hormones, which is completely normal.
Usually morning sickness is stronger, but mine wasn't much worse than my other pregnancies. Only way you are going to know is from the doctor.

My answer wan't as thourough as I wanted it to be. (my phone kicked me off the net.)
Even though you have twins on your mother's side, it depends on what KIND of twins. Identical are luck of the draw, and Fraternal can be inherited.

Twins are carried on the mother's side so you have a big chance of having them esp. with your family history. In our family we had the twins every other generation so it missed me but my daughter is expecting twins. She found out when she went for her first ultrasound. Ask your doc about it.

I've always heard that they skip a generation, but I guess that's not true in your family.
