also is it ok to give him different food than what i ussually give him

it is usually done by keeping different shells of all different and different sizes kind in the area where you keep it and it will do the picking of shell and feed it the food that you can ask the pet shop owner. some people put different greens or fish bits. but not cooked. like can fish.and you can give it little of the food you eat.

Just put the shell in its tank. Make sure its just a little bit bigger then the one it has now. Hermit crabs will switch shells as they get bigger. And I can't rember what exactly I fed mine, but they got hermit crab food, and I think lettuce and fruits or veggies are good. Just remember where they live in the wild warm tropical beaches.

Just leave the shell in the box. And most of the hermit crabs I've had will eat any of the food.

just put it in the cage if it wants it it will go get in it, if it's doing good on the regular food then don't change it!

boil the shell first (to clean it) and let it cool. Then just put it in the tank with him! And yes, you can change his diet.
