My child bought a balacalva for himself at xmas only to keep warm!!!!!!!!!!!!, but the police told him he could get an ASBO for this WHY????? muslim women wear VEILS (which i consider should be an ASBO it is a balacalva for G__S sake) i need help because the police have told him if he wears it again he will be arrested, SORRY but how many people out there had their parents make them wear balaclavas(to keep warm) when you were a child!!!!!!!!!!!! are our parents to blame for this??? well sorry but NO i always encourage my child to wear wot he wants, I'm i a bad parent??????????? i do not think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh come on luv, you've got to be kidding. Nobody wears balaclavas anymore, very 1970's. If you let your kid wear a balaclava, well I'd think you were a bad parent.
I do, however, think that you're making this up to stir up racial tension, which seems to be taking over the UK at the moment. Get a grip woman, you're more likely to be attacked by a gang wearing balaclavas (even though nobody wears them anymore) than a gang of Muslim women wearing veils.
If you feel that threatened, stay at home and concentrate on your kids' welfare. Do the dishes or summat and stop believing all you read in the tabloids.

The veil is warn for religious reasons and I think people should be allowed to wear what they want. But it does seem silly that the police would arrest someone for wearing a balaclava. Although I remember one year some teenagers turned up on our door step on Halloween with balaclava's and they looked like burglers. Then they rolled some bins down are drive coz we wouldn't give them any sweets. I guess i can see where the police are coming from like it does make someone appear threatening and look a bit like a burgler. Women wearing the veil don't appear threatening and they are wearing it for religious reasons. I guess a balaclava would appear more threatening. But being arrested for it is ridiculous. Maybe u can talk to the police about this. To be honest if I saw someone walking towards with a balaclava on I would be very scared.

I cant possibly see what is wrong with wearing an open faced balaclava and as for veils they should be sheer!

the balaclava was originally to keep the face warm not to hide it, the veil's purpose is soley for hiding or masking the wearer and form a barrier between them and the outside world. The wearer often stating it's for religious reasons..

to be honist a veil is more intimadating to me if your lads balaclaver is open faced then it is fine if it has little slits for eyes and the rest covered i can see where police are coming from but i do not beleive he should be singled out i think everybody should be made to show there faces asians and english people and no you are not a bad mother
