I'm going to answer this without looking at another answer. Have you ever seen or heard of a little child murdering someone or beating up someone? They talk now a days about the "terrible twos" when psychologists say a 2 yr. old baby is even more aggressive than when a teen. I know why! They are discovering the world with their new found ability to explore and handle things and when they are frustrated they throw a fit. The wonderful world is "their apple" and they want more of it.
If they are not gently taught to control their "greed" for finding things out and making things happen they may develop some hyperactivity syndrome. If they are abused they may develop some withdrawal or avoidance syndrome. I think a lot more is dependent on nurture than they give credance to.
People are not born evil.

I believe you are born with a lot of things installed into you already, the way you treat people, the way you can find it so easy to lie or not, the type of person you are such as shy or out going etc. I suppose you could also be born bad,but I think that your upbringing may a big part of that, not all murderers come from bad homes though.
my husband had not seen his dad for 25 years so he could not possibly have got the way he is off him as he was not there while he was growing up but they are exactly the same almost in every way.
so I say it must be in the genes what type of person you are, having a good upbringing obviously gives you the good morals to know what is right and wrong though x

well for the most part children lean at a very young age how to be bad. it has to do with there parents, peers and also how strong they are mental to deal with there problems. not all people that have had bad childhoods are bad. and some are bad when they have had great childhoods. i do believe in the idea that there is such thing as natural born killers, or people that were born to kill, but the science community does not agree with that idea. i think that some people are evil and find that evil at a very young age.

Its an interesting subject, one of my favourites. I trained as a mental nurse and worked in forensics. I dont think any baby is born bad. Its the Nurture V Nature arguement. Think of evil like Ian Brady no child is that evil. Yes it can begin in early years, boys can pull wings off butterflys and progress to hurting cats, then other humans and worst of all children. But you are not born that way. Its something fundamental missing in the upbringing you had and the influences around you, in your formative years. Some children see the most horrific things at home, things most of us only think of in our worst nightmares.

All people are born selfish and self-centered -- bad in my opinion. Good upbringing helps train them to think of others. Some do not chose to submit to the training offered them. Evil is the default -- good character is the result of many good choices. Evil is a the root of many mental health problems.

I think in most cases it's something that happens to them either from bad parenting or having traumatic experiences while young.
However I think if 2 really evil people had a child together there would be a good chance of the child inheriting some of that.

That's a difficult question, i think some people can become bad through circumstances and things that happen to them in their life and then there are those who seem to turn bad for no good reason. Also i think some people feel less remorse than others so they can be bad without feeling much regret about it. Are people born bad? No i don't think so, but maybe some people are born with less susceptibility to develop a kind heart.

Another thing to consider when answering the question is what constitutes "bad" behavior. For some, drinking alcohol is bad where others find it perfectly normal. Is any violation of a social norm considered bad behavior? Or just violations of codified laws?
Moreover, if one person acts bad in one respect does that make them a bad person? For example, if a man smokes weed can you claim that he is a bad person, even if he holds down a full time job, take care of my ailing mother and regularly perform volunteer work?
Also, some behaviors might be universally considered bad, such as random acts of murder. For those instances, it may be easy to claim a person is a bad individual if he walks about town killing random strangers.
Or is a person bad when they commit acts that themselves believe to be egregious yet still commit them?

I believe that some people are born with a genetic kink in their make up which stops them from seeing the world as we do. They do not empathise with people and are very self orientated. These people regardless of upbringing will if it benefits them will do evil.
Others are born `normal` but their circumstances give them little choice but to go bad, either from poor self esteem, abuse, or pure survival instincts.
For some the way they are brought up gives them a different moral structure which they will adhere to, but, to others they will seem like they are being anti social and wicked.
