the weapons used are very sophisticated and are not manufactured there. which Western "democracies" suppy them?

Throughout the Cold War (1950-1989), the U.S. delivered over $1.5 billion worth of weaponry to Africa.
U.S. military transfers in the form of direct government-to-government weapons deliveries, commercial sales, and International Military Education and Training (IMET) to the states directly involved have totaled more than $125 million since the end of the Cold War.
China, Russia, England, and international arms dealers from around the world also supply weaponry.

These Western so called 'democracies' include the UK, France, Sweeden etc. etc.
Would their population, involved in manufacturing arms for export, die of hunger if the factories were closed down? No.
In fact there is so much money to be made that scrupples and even laws of the land go out of the window when it comes to this trade.

They are made from western technology.
Are you suggesting that Africans use a more old fashioned approach to killing each other and forego using our modern weapons???

!Weapons of war are just another money maker,,, if we don't supply and make, then that will be even more jobs exported...we can!t have it all ways.... Lets look after ourselves before we end up a third world country?

the most popular weapon available is the russian made and supplied kalashnikov.
Quite corrctly,the west has supplied weapons to those who oppose brutal or communist regimes.Regimes who have been known to massacre millions through war and starvation.
