I wanna own my own pet shop/non-kill animal shelter, but i wanna earn a good living. do you know any jobs that are similar to my dreams and pay a lot. I don't wish to be a vet. does anyone know how much you make if you own your own buisness, or does anyone know anyone that makes a good living owning their own petshop?

The truth is so many people want careers with animals involved, that it is hard to be successful, where i live there are about 5 different pets shops and only one is successful, petsmart, so try to find a different career that involves animals and have a seccond, normal job. In example: Be a person who gives lessons on riding horses, and also work at a corprate building, then you would be happy. Or breed dogs, or cats, and work as a manager at a pet shop, or open an adoption service, help animals, or you could work at a hummane society and have a pet shop, just try to mix it up a little

With the competition being as great as it is with animal occupations, it will be very very hard to make a decent living. However, if you do a greater job than others so that you are up on the top of the rung, the chances are, you could make a good living. But... You have to exceed all the others and this is pretty tough.

Hmmm...You can open up a pet shop that sells supplies ect. and takes in animals and rehabilitates them... People who want to adopt will have to pay a fee and then you can slam them with all the pet supplies that they can't resist. Sort of like petco but more caring to the customers! You can get paid good money too if you buy purebred pets and sell them there too!

this may call for a little more schooling but they are more and more trainers needed to train dogs and some even want to have other pets train like horses. and that is a good paying job. and you are working with animals
