A store near me is getting a shipment of 20 Nintendo wii units. My parents want to buy one for my daughters' birthday and I said I'd pick one up if possible. (Otherwise they have to order one online which is way too expensive.)

The store opens at 7:00. I live in a mid-sized city. What time do you think I need to get there?

I live in a mid size city myself, and I just last week stood in line from 2am - 10am at Circuit City. I was the only one there until about 4am, and more people didn't really show up until between 7 and 9am. If I was you I would go around 5am.

A friend of mine bought one here, another mid to small city and got there the night before. People started showing up at 2am. This, however, was before Christmas. I happened upon a few Wii units at a local target about 3 weeks ago and that was mid-afternoon. I would get there as early as you can if you really want a Wii. Personally, I'd get there before 5am but I also camped out to buy season tickets for University of Wisconsin basketball from 9pm Wednesday to 9am the next Monday. It's all about dedication.

Scout out the area before closing time and see if there are a lot of people waiting in line. If there's even 1 person camping, you can bet that others will follow soon. So, if you see someone camping out, you should also camp out.

If there's no one in line, then you can probably show up around 3 am at the latest. If you can, bring a car and bring some company to keep you occupy until the store opens.

In a mid sized city you could probably go at 4 in the morning and be 10-15th in line, to be safe though you should be at the store at 3 AM. Make sure to bring entertainment, or pray that your beside socialable people.
