Thanks to everyone for your input. I guess I worded the question wrong. I am trying to compare the way other countries deal with welfare and the problems it generates with the way the United States deals with it.

I like this question. They dont deal with our poverty problems because we are a developed country. We always have to get involved in other peoples problems. When another country gets involved in that regard, this shows a sign of weekness and it shows the first sign that something is internally wrong, not a good thing. The only time I can recall other countries got involved was when Condolleezza Rice had to pick and choose which country she would receive aid from during Hurricane Katrina...I remember like it was yesterday, it was highly embarassing to have her say "NO" to aid from Cuba.

The simple truth is that the US has far more poverty than all the other Western countries put together!

Just look at New Orleans! The well off got help the poor and deprived still lack even the basics.

And America thinks it offers a good example to the world!

Well, they certainly do not elect a president like Georgie Bush. He takes, takes, takes, and gives to the rich.
