First of all, the parents were prevented from soothing the child in any way shape or form. The flight attendants were attempting to strap the child in a seat on a different aisle than the parents. The parents were trying to return home and were stranded because of this. Did you know this anti-parent sentiment is the leading cause of child abuse? Perhaps people should know the whole story first and maybe you should have kids yourself before you make decisions regarding other people's children and/or commenting about the airline's decision to remove the child from the flight. I don't really care what the opinions of non-parents are in this matter. You don't know how hard it is to be a parent until you are one.

That is not the way I heard that story.
The plane was held up for 15 minutes so the parents could get control of that kid. The kid was a screaming-crawling brat probably because parents today live with the child abuse thing for reprimanding their own children. That kid should have had my father...he'd tell you ONCE! We knew the consequences....he knew how to control us for sure... and he was a cop.
Also, they were not stranded either...as they were visiting grandparents so they had a place to go. Air Trans refunded 599.00 for 3 tickets and then gave them all a free pass to anywhere on their airline to boot.
As a parent...I would have been mortified if my kid pulled that stunt and would be expected to get what they got less the free passes.
The airlines are a business and there were lots of other passengers trying to get home or make a connection at the destination airport. Sorry, I have no sympathy for the parents on their little brat terrorist.

I suspect the child is just like the parents...they were not satisfied with the free passes and reported to the media all this crap for their 15 minutes of media attention and said they'd never fly Air Trans again. Air Trans should be relieved to hear that news. I approve of their policy as concerns these little blood curdling terrorists.

Flying with children is not fun, however in this society it is very likely to happen. I have three children. My four year old is Bipolar and very often hits, throw fits, and appears to be completely out of control. This is not bad parenting this is a neurological condition that effects ever part of our lives. I do not know the parents but it is possible that there is more going on then just not disciplining. I have had to experience bad flight attendants who are rude just because I have children, and this is when my children were good. I do think that children need to be given special consideration on airplanes. Seriously, what threat is a young kid? It might suck for a person who does not have children to have to hear someones child who is having a bad day. . . but buy a set of earphones and tone them out. I do not think the airlines should be able to kick them off and the fact that they did worries me that future families are going to be discriminated against.

The kid was obviously a brat and nobody else on the flight needs to deal with that. I just flew to Florida on Air Tran over Christmas with my 2 year old and 12 month old and they were angles. I received tons of compliments from the other passengers and crew both down and back on how well my kids were behaved. They are well behaved because they know their actions have consequences. On the way down one of the flight attendants even came back and got my daughter after serving the drinks and asked her if she wanted to go set up front with them. If that would have been my kid acting like that Air Tran wouldn't of had to remove me from the plane because I would have yanked my kid off their myself. I wouldn't want to listen to that crap on plane from my own kid let alone someone elses. Some people on that plane are probably terrified as it is to fly and it doesn't help their nerves any to listen to some brat screaming because he/she cannot sit down in their own seat until the fasten seat belt sign is turned off.

You are wrong. They followed the rules, and people who can't control their kids have to pay the consequences.
