You can do what ever you like whilst your on medication, but you'll be wasting your time & your doctor's time. For the sake of a few days you might as well try and get better, & then go boozing!!!

It is not recommended. Drinking alcohol won't effect you any differently to how it normally does BUT it will stop the antibiotics from working. Your choice of not having an alcoholic drink for a short period or the antibiotics working & you getting rid of an infection.

Its a myth that you cant drink on antibiotics. There are a couple of rare ones that you cant but your doctor would have been sure to tell you if prescribed them. They do make you become drunk quicker so i think thats where people get mixed up. Also, if you are ill drinking can make you feel worse but i dont think it interferes with the pills. Have a couple but dont overdo it, you'll be fine with amoxicillin. Lifes too short eh?
P.S Type 'alcohol and antibiotics' into google and you will see i am right.

YES YOU CAN!
it won't affect the drug what so ever
or the alcohol
the only reason you are told not to drink is because a break from beer is good for you, but, it will not enhance or ruin the drug effect.
the only effect it has with alcohol is it may give you diarrhea (the shits) after a few drinks, BUT, it will not effect the drug, just your bum hole

Amoxicillan is fine. Metronizadol is a different kettle of fish. It's a close cousin of Antabuse, which is prescribed to recovering alcoholics and will leave you with the mother of all hangovers, but it is mainly used for dental problems so you should be OK unless you have been prescribed this.
