I own a 94 Grand Prix...just replaced my battery after my light turned on. The first time I drove the car with the new battery, no light was on. However, the second time and on, the light is back on. I also noticed that the light on my radio was flickering a bit as I was driving the last time....What could be wrong?

Just so you know. The battery light on the dash has nothing to do with the battery or battery voltage. It simply tells you if the charging system is charging or not. Could and most likely an alternator problem. Be sure and check wire connectios to be sure you havn't a bad connection somewhere.

The battery light doesn't mean the battery is bad. It means the battery is low, usually because the alternator isn't charging it. The light is just a low voltage indicator, so the new battery was high enough to keep it out for a while. Get a $15 voltmeter and see if the alternator is putting out 14 volts or so. Learning how to use the voltmeter is a whole lot faster and cheaper than throwing parts at the problem.

The Guys are right. You more than likely need an alternator. Before you replace the alternator be sure to check that it has a proper 12 volt feed to the bat terminal on the back of the alternator and a feed with the key in the on position (not running) to the regulator wire on the 2 or 3 prong plug on the alternator. Not having a proper a proper feed could cause the same symptoms. But it is more than likely an alternator you need.

bad voltage regulator which is in your alternator so you have the option of tearing the alternator apart and replacing the voltage regulator for $10.00 or as everyone else does , replace the whole alternator for around $ 50.00 at a parts store, your choice.
