The previous answer is 100% correct. Another example would be the southern coast of Alaska where the Pacific plate is subducting under the North American plate. Also in the north-west US where the Juan de Fuca plate is subducting under the North American plate. These are the best examples I can think of (the Nazca plate subducting under the South American plate being the best example I know of).
