Well last month I had two periods. One on the 6th of December and the other on the 19th after I discontinued my use of birth control pills. I thought I would get my period around the 19th of January, but I didn’t get it until the 24th. I had unprotected sex on 19th and 20th of January. Could I be pregnant even though I got my period???

If your girlfriend had her period then no, I wouldn't worry *unless* (there's always an "unless") her period was suspiciously light. However, it usually takes days for a fertilized egg (which in itself takes 12 hours to happen) to implant in the uterus and prevent a period. There are also women who experience low HCG levels and then don't know they're pregnant until well into their first trimester. MOST OF THE TIME, though, that late in a woman's cycle it is too late for the egg to become fertilized (EG, one day is not enough time between sex and a period for an egg to be fertilized and implant successfully). Short answer: you should be fine. EDIT: YES the timing does matter. I have never heard of a woman ovulating DURING her menstrual cycle, and I'm sorry to break the news to you but you can't get pregnant without ovulating. It is THAT simple. The complicated part is trying to figure out when she was ovulating...but I think it's safe to say, it wasn't DURING her period or the day before.

Well, I just found out that I was pregnant a few days ago. My period started on the 10th of Jan and ended on the 14th. I had sex the day before my period and three days after my period and some time between there I must have gotten pregnant. I'm guessing I probably got pregnant 3 days after my period, but those are supposed to be the "safe" days. So I don't know. Apparently anything is possible.

Question: Can you be pregnant and still get your period?

Answer: Well, no, you can't get your period once you're pregnant — once your body starts producing the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and your pregnancy is established, your menstrual cycle is interrupted and normal periods stop. But you may have bleeding or spotting during pregnancy that can seem like a period.

Some pregnant women have what's called "implantation bleeding" that can happen around the time their period is due, and they may mistake that bleeding for a period. This spotting may be caused by the fertilized egg burrowing into the blood-rich lining of the uterus, a process that starts just 6 days after fertilization, and it's generally a lot lighter than a typical period — just a day or two of very light spotting.

If you're pregnant and you're not sure when your last period started, this can make establishing a due date difficult for your healthcare provider. If you have any doubts, your provider can feel how big your uterus is with a pelvic examination and estimate how far along you are. In most cases, your provider will also order an ultrasound before the middle of your pregnancy to measure the size of your developing baby and clarify exactly when the baby is due.

Many women who bleed a little bit in early pregnancy deliver without any complications, but bleeding can also be a cause for concern. It may be the first sign of a miscarriage. If so, your symptoms probably will go on to include heavy cramping and bleeding much heavier than a normal period.

Abnormal bleeding can also be a sign of ectopic or tubal pregnancy. If you have sharp pains in your lower abdomen, especially if the pain is only on one side, you should see your practitioner right way to find out if you have an ectopic pregnancy. A tubal pregnancy can be life-threatening, and sometimes the only symptom is bleeding around the time your period is expected. Often, the period may be lighter than usual. Sometimes a home pregnancy test will be negative, and the pregnancy can only be detected by checking blood hCG levels.

If you bleed at all early in your pregnancy, it's best to notify your doctor or midwife to get specific instructions. She may suggest getting a blood test to check your hCG levels or order an ultrasound to evaluate your condition more thoroughly.

yes you can!! Some of these people honestly do not have any kind of knowledge on this. I was 15 weeks pregnant with my first child when I found out. I had my period for not 1 not 2 but 3 months while I was pregnant. I am now on my second child and was in a similar situation. I had my period and when I found out with this one they said I was nine weeks pregnant. I had an ultra sound done the very next day do to a lot of cramping, and they determined I was 11 1'2 weeks. Therefore I have had two months were I had my period and was pregnant. My first boy is healthy as ever, and I got to see the heartbeat of my second and its just as healthy.

Yes if you had unprotected sex in december. I have had three children and with one of my children this happened and with my last child i carried on having periods until I was about 6 month pregnant. Do a test just to make sure and I hope everything turns out the way you want it. Good Luck!!

Theoretically. Since you are just off the pill and having irregular cycles anything is possible. In the case of twins, there are two fertile eggs, it is possible for one to get fertilized and the other to trigger the menstrual cycle.

--Just as a cautionary statement, it is also possible, though VERY rare for and egg to get fertilized after it has left the most beneficial place for fertilization. This zygote would attach too low to ensure a healty baby, and the body would flush it out in a miscarage. Unlikely, just a possibility to be aware of, and ask you doctor about if anymore inconsistancies emerge.

yes that is possible and even on rare occstions some have been known to have it all the way threw thier entire pregnancy. I would wait for your next period and if you don't get it take a pregnancy test but untill then don't stress because that can also make your period late.

It's too soon to tell for sure, but it's a definite possibility. Wait til next month & if you still get it, you're probably not. I've known women to get their periods up to 5 months in though.

if your period starts after you have had sexual intercourse its meant to be a sign that you are not pregnant...periods occur when an egg hasn't met a sperm, so the progesterone stops and the uterus lining washes out with the egg... if you have sex in the two weeks after your period your more likely to not fall pregnant coz they are called the safe days...
take care.... :-)
