i agree with the other. you sound kinda full. you definitely don't want to crowd your tank or it may crash.

you could get a beta and be fine so long as none of the other fish resemble the beta with the same body shape and same fins.

Well, you are pretty full already, but if you thought it was really needed, I would go with the female because males can get aggressive, even though I have heard stories about them getting along perfectly. Bettas are good fish with about a 2 year life span most often, and then they just fall apart, they can get multiple diseases very quick and then just die.

Betas don't do to good together but
Male Betta's don't fight with other species they just swim around so do females. but don't put male and female together they fight just like the males.
If its full wait if its not then go ahead.
Ive owned alot in the past and stuck them with other fish and they've done superb

i know for a fact that if you put two betas in a tank they will rip each other apart (especially if there is another female in the tank.
However, I'm almost certain that a beta won't attack another fish.
I think the problem may be that the other bigger fish may eat him because he is smaller

No, Beta's are know as fighting fish, they should be kept seperately.
If added with other fish they will cause a masacre. Even the same species put together may fight.

Don't risk the other fishs' lives. Maybe put a goldfish in with a Beta and see if hes agressive.

Good luck.

The clear one are probably "glass fish" Is there any black on their sides or on their faces?

No. Male betas need to be in a tank alone as they are fighting fish. They will fight the other fish even if they are peaceful. If you want a male beta you should get a tank for him and let him be alone.

You are way overstocked, the betta can get along fine with these fish though

yes. just as long as the other fish don't look like betas.also, they
may want to breed so if they do, put them in another tank.you may want to buy beta tank purifier, fin conditioner, ect.
