my partner has been filtering and preparing his tank for just over a month so he can keep marine fish, however disaster struck today, we bought a dancing shrimp and two scarlett hermits, and a nice star polp however after just over 2 hours the shrimp jumped off this mortal coil and so it seems have the hermits, upon testing the water everything is ok, anyone got any suggestions?

It would help if we knew what water test you performed/results. Also, are you sure about the shrimp? They shed, just like a snake, and there've been times I thought I'd lost one of my peppermints or pistol shrimp, only to find it was just a shed exoskeleton.

ADDITION: I'd check the ammonia and nitrite/nitrate levels. It may be your live rock wasn't fully cured and your tank hasn't finished cycling.

Also, what type of hydrometer are you using? Some show a "range" from 1.020-1.023. This is fine for fish, but inverts need it higher (natural seawater is 1.024-1.026).
