UN- Habitat reports that 1 billion people world-wide-32 percent of the people in the cities- live in slums and that the number may double in 30 years.

How's this a problem and what're some solutions? How'd it become a problem?

Of course this is a HUGE problem! Living in slums means poverty, fast spread of infections and unemployment. Solutions, well, honestly, people have fought for centuries to overcome this problem, but it needs a genius (and a LOT of money) to do so.
