There are two possibilities...

1) The rule of thumb is 1 pint = 1 pound
2) Water weighs approximately 8 1/3 pounds per gallon

A gallon of fresh water weighs 8.34 pounds. If you want to verify this you can simply fill up a gallon jug and place it on your bathroom scale.

1 gallon = 4 quarts

The rest is simple math.
