Because there is so much a lack of love in the world and so much friction people are drawing from animals especially dog kind for that attention they are missing in their lives.Animals and bird life are still portraying as a whole what was instilled into them during their creation while man under the direction of Wicked angles are becoming more negative to loving ways therefore making your assement correct.

Good question. Here is an interesting story that supports what you are saying. A few years ago a man in California got in a fender bender with a woman, and when he confronted her in her car, he grabbed her little dog and threw it into traffic and killed it. That same day in the same city, a little girl was murdered by her abusive dad. Guess which story made the headlines and, in fact, became national news? The dog. The girl was not even on the front page of the local paper. There IS a reason for it, though. It is virtually impossible for most people to grasp how seriously messed up our society is. These incidents happen daily all over the country, and we are blasted by it every day on the news. It is easier to ignore it and go about you life without thinking about it too much, rather than to cave into the guilt and depression many would suffer because they are incapable of dealing with a situation so apparently dire. In the meantime, they rationalize that the citizens without health care are not getting health care because of their own faults. So they feel like they shouldn't have to pay for it, because they believe (incorrectly, of course) that these people could get health care "if they just got a job." Sad, but true. That said, I wouldn't go so far as to say "most" Americans do this. Many Americans have pets and do NOT spend any exhorbitant amount of money on them. I own a cat, and it gets fed and gets its shots, but little else besides my love. And I have dedicated much of my time and money toward helping people in need. My owning a cat has no impact, positively or negatively, on my ability to help people. I don't mean that to toot my own horn, but rather to suggest that whereas you should not ignore the troubles in the world, you cannot ignore the good, either. There are a lot of really good people in this country working hard to right these wrongs. Hopefully you are one of them. Another positive is this: I used an instance of domestic violence to support your argument. Pets are playing an important role in stamping out child abuse. The fact is that most people who abuse children also abuse animals. So if a child has a pet, odds are that pet will get battered before the child does. Because people love animals so much, they are more likely to report their neighbor or boyfriend or whomever for attacking a dog. This is a red flag to the authorities, who can then investigate further and find out if the animal abuser is also a person abuser. You are right about some people caring more about their dog than their fellow man, but people caring about their pets is not really the problem. In some cases, it is the solution.

Of course it's not wrong, but it's certainly a misinformed choice. I'm not criticising you because I used to be the same way but the years have shown me that animals are just people in different forms. They're capable of all you've attributed solely to man, except maybe for lying because that seems to require speech. Though who's to say they don't lie to each other in their own languages?
I've known animals who were far wiser than others I'd known of their kind. I know a few chickens who are so petty they annoy the hell out of me.
I think the only real difference is that animals are more attuned with the laws of nature. Through steady advances in technology, man has separated himself from the wilds yet his physical self still obeys natural laws, even though his mind (through conditioning) will yearn for made up things like money and prestige.

Nothing is wrong if it feels right to you. It's a perspective world, and the universe wouldn't have allowed things to happen if it wasn't supposed to be in our power to do so. Animals follow their nature just like man follows theirs. Looking from a human perspective point of view of what good, bad, right, and wrong are, it may seem like that's true, but it still functions under the guise of what the universe has as capable for us. If a bird instead of being born a bird was born a human, it'd be just like a human and it'd do human things. We all follow our natures. If humans weren't meant to be this way, we wouldn't be this way. Nature will take it's course and time will go on. So do what you will as long as it suits you, and let nothing or no one tell you otherwise.

No, I don't think that's wrong at all; I'm the same way. Pets and animals are happy to have the bare essentials, food, safety, a place to sleep, a mate. Humans are greedy and will do horrible things just for the sake of hurting someone else. Cats and dogs especially will love you unconditionally.

You should never feel that it is wrong to care more for animals. It is the human race that is destroying this planet and all the creatures in it. How many stories have you heard about animals saving peoples lives (dogs during 9/11, cats waking their owners up during a fire, dolphins saving people from drowning, etc.) And how do we treat them in return? We kill them for their skins, we eat them, we do unspeakable horrors to them for entertainment purposes (dog and cockfighting, circuses). Animals love for us is unconditional. They don't care if you are black or white, blind or sighted, rich or poor. They stick with you when all abandon you.
Baby seals are clubbed to death, whales are hunted to the verge of extinction, gorillas are killed to make their hands out of ashtrays, cowards hunt animals to put their heads on their walls for trophies or sport. And we insult these creatures by calling humans animals whenever humans do something horrendous.
You sound like a very compassionate, caring individual who should be commended for your feelings. This world needs more people like you who see animals as beings with feelings not some object to be used, abused or killed.
Thank you for caring.
BTW, I am a vegetarian (going on 34 years) who doesn't wear or use animal products. I buy products not tested on animals. Just in case anyone brings that up.

If you had to make a choice between feeding the animal or feeding the child, would you feed the child TO the animal? I do not think you would. I think you would let that animal fend for itself, caring more about the child. Just something to ponder...

yes that's true but animals won't care one way or the other if something happens to you. If you need money for your light bill is your dog friend going to loan you a couple of bucks until payday?

,Animals love us unconditionally,Our girl Honey bought love and light into our home during our saddest time ,she makes us laugh, she brings the washing downstairs for me and puts it in front of the washing machine ,.ready for me to load it up.She even pulls the washing out as well. Not all of it, but every little helps. She likes shoes and I leave mine by the door and she will take 1 or both outside. She has the most adorable nature and our life has been transformed. We like humans as well but you cannot like or love everyone .people have weaknesses and faults .I am a vegetarian to..Dogs have helped humans since time began and they often become helpers and companions to disabled people ,they guide the blind, assist wheelchair bound members of society, dogs are now being popularized as hearing dogs. there are sheepdogs ,Guard dogs, messenger dogs who risked their lives for our brave soldiers on the front during the war,the list is endless, one of my favourites are the dogs who visit people in hospitals. Some members of dog society have the talent to detect illness, understanding peoples changing needs during their illness, dogs sense moods, sense danger, can anyone think of anymore???
