I'm a for sure beginner but I know this sounds dumb, how do you play all six string if you only have 4 fingers available to use. The tab I'm playing has a chord like this

|--3
|--3
|--5
|--5
|--3
|--3

I just have trouble not getting in the way of other strings and messing it up..?

Also theres a chord where you have to mute two strings its like this

|-----
|--5-
|-----
|--5--
|----
|--5--

That's called a bar. You hold down all of the strings with your pointer finger on the third fret and use your ring finger and pinky for the fifth fret.

The second is usually played by quickly strumming each string simultanesouly OR play the whole thing open (no pointer finger bar). The tab that you are showing me is an open figure. You strum all of them at the same time together with your pointer, middle, and ring finger on the fifth fret. It's a harmonic chord. If it were closed the bar on the far left of the "5" would have an "x" there which means do not touch these strings. Your diagram is open. So, strum them all at the same time.

Chords like this are called barre chords. They are made by "barring" your index finger over all six strings and then using the other fingers to fret different notes on other frets. For example on the first chord you have, since the 3rd fret is the lowest, you bar all 6 strings on the 3rd fret with your first finger, and then use your ring finger and pinky to play the 2 notes on the 5th fret. The next chord is played by fingering the notes on the 5th fret with the 2, 3, and 4 fingers and then putting a bar behind those fingers, except do not press down. Just let your finger rest over the strings so that the notes do not sound. Hope this helps. Good luck.
