It was probably just Braxton-Hicks contractions. They are perfectly normal, but my doctor has told me that if I have more than 5-6 contractions (painful or not) in less than one hour, I need to be seen by a doctor immediately.

Weight gain in the first trimester varies widely. I read somewhere to gain 3-4 lbs, but I gained 6-8 and my doctor said I was fine. I also knew women who actually lost weight due to morning sickness, and they were fine too. Your doctor can tell you what amount of weight is healthy based on your height and build.

The tightenings you are getting will more than likely just be your muscles stretching. It can be quite painful sometimes but don,t worry.
Think of all the changes that your body has to go through in the next few months. Don,t worry about gaining weight it happens to every pregnant woman. I doubt you will have put much weight on at this stage. Just try and stick to a normal healthy diet and keep off the kebabs and pizza,s and you should be fine.
All in all i put 2 and a half stone on during my pregnancy but i did eat a lot of pizza,s

I had these all the way through my pregnancy and sometimes you could actually see the sac rising up and going tight (the baby), I loved it when this happened, it felt a little uncomfortable but bearable and apparently they were braxton hicks.
About the weight thing, I weighed less at the end of my pregnancy than I did at the start, the doctors were really worried about me but I was fine and so was my baby, weighing in at 8lb 14oz (pretty big for a 1st!)

Congratulations and good luck

You will get tummy tightenings at this stage. It is normal and just the muscles extending in preparation. Don't worry about your weight gain. It's not relative to the babies. Some are still tiny, others (like my wife) were in maternity clothes almost straight away.

I use to have strange sensations like that it's just your body changing shape, I don't think you should be concerned unless there's pain or blood involved...I am so happy for you I loved being pregnant may God watch over you and your baby!!!
