I'd like to know the definition of spousal abuse. My husband pushed me against a wall today. Is this a sign of things to come and get worse? First it was the threat of being hit..now it's a push. How can I get this to stop before it escalates again?

i think it is a sign of things to come. a man should never threaten to hit a woman in the first place, but then actually getting violent is a whole different story. have you tried to get counseling ? I always think that is a good place to start. Make sure that you are assertive and let him know that this isn't ok.

Normally I would say yes it will escalate, but, you brought Oprah into the equation. You know that the people that watch that stuff are twisted! I would say that you must have bopped him on the head and think it's just your right as a twisted wife. I'm scared to think of all the things you do! I bet after every Oprah episode you project that weirdness on him. I would say leave him now! This way he won't get twisted from being around you! Save your husbands life, run!

A push is the same thing as a hit in my book and it will escalate into something more. Get out.

Do not let it happen again. Get out of the situation. Get counselling. In the meantime, go live with your parents or a sibling or friend. Very likely, unless the situation is stopped, it will lead to your getting hurt. So, get out and good luck. There's absolutely NO REASON for verbal or physical absue - NEVER.

When a guy crosses that line, he's there pretty much for good (much like a pedophile), barring divine intervention. Get away from him while you still have enough dignity and backbone to do so.

The only way it will stop is if he gets counselling for his problems but until he does you should try to get away from him. For more information, check out http://www.ncadv.org

This sounds dangerous. You and he need to go to counseling and hope he gets help. If he refuses, you should consider separation until he agrees to get help.

You can't if he has a temper. He will do more damage next time. Get away before its too late.
