I was driving west out of the Sierra mountains in California.
I was depressed because my dad had died at a relatively young ago. Everything seemed to be going bad in my life. I asked God for a sign that life was good. I rounded a curve and before me was the Valley and on the horizon was the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen.

The first answer (given by sugar) Reminds me of a similar moment when I'd reached the top of a particular mountain in the Lake District (England) and there was a fog in the valley below, meaning there was a sea of cloud extending as far as the eye can see below me, and the mountaintops raised above the clouds looked like islands. The sun was setting on the horizon, creating a wonderful sunset. It was probably the most beautiful sight I've ever seen. if anything it made me feel at peace, that beyond every bad thing us humans are responsible for. The world's a beautiful place.

There are so many, so hard to choose, but I guess watching my 7 year old read to me aloud from one of his favorite books. I think to myself when he is reading, how smart and intelligent and healthy as well as beautiful he is. He puts so much emotion into his reading I think to myself this is how great writers, actors, thespians are born.
