If more people understood quantum physics they would not think of this as a dumb question...in reality it is actually very profound. We are learning that nothing really exists unless you are looking at it....check out the 66/40 radio broadcast on www.khouse.org. Chuck Missler has some sermons where he goes into detail about mysterious topics such as this. Wish I could give you some more detail...13th floor is also a rad movie to watch...it will totally shatter your view of reality

As I see it, yes.
This is like the "If a tree fell in the forest and there was no one around to hear it, did it make a sound" category! Yes, because due to the movement of the tree the air was moved which is "mechanical radiant energy that is transmitted by longitudinal pressure waves in a material medium (as air)" (merriam-webster.com), thus proof that even if no one there, the sound exists never-the-less.
This is the same for the desk. What if my friend is still in the room? Even if I leave, my friend can report to me that it is still there, and even though I do not perceive it, I know it exists.

As much as it was when you were sitting at it.
This is like the "If a tree fell in the forest and there was no one around to hear it, did it make a sound" category! The squirrel that was crushed under the tree that fell would, in all likelihood, tell you the tree existed, if he could. Then again, did the squirrel actually ever exist?

I guess if you leave the room and your girlfriend does some other guy, she could tell you they didn't exist when you left so get over it.

Apparently not, according to some of the quirkier ideas coming out of quantum physics. :)

No, it ceases to exist. I snuck back into the room to confirm it. It was gone, all right.
