How do you know they're treating him bad/sad ? All we see is the 90minutes they play each week
The coach, manager and training staff see him throughout the week, they judge him on his ability, commitment and skill in training and based on this the starting XI is picked. They can't pick a starting XI based on how well players played at previous clubs, or for their countries before they arrived.
You can't say he needs more games to adapt. As a manager both Pardew and Curbishley need to win games. If they feel that Mascherano is not good enough to contribute to win them that game, then they won't pick him. What's the point they pick him for 10 games, and in the first 9 he's not found form yet and they loose those 9. Would it not make more sense to pick your form players, the ones who do well in training ?

Bottom line, unless you're part of the back room staff and can see Mascherano in training, I don't think you can claim that he's been badly treated. Maybe he doesn't train hard enough, maybe he keeps mishitting his passes in training, maybe he doesn't keep to his positional play in training, all leading to him warming the bench instead of playing

Maybe he isn't that great. Maybe he hasn't adapted well, maybe he isn't up to it.

Surely, they have the player, if he has adapted, if he was ready, they would play him. If he doesn't play under one manager, sure, they may have some sort of rift. But, he has yet to establish himself under two coaches and a new owner; maybe you should start questioning the player.

ADD ON- He has been in almost 10 games. Of which most of the time he hasn't looked the part.

He probably hasn't really been performing in training, etc. He has gone through two managers and two different owners; not playing under either regime, those aren't good signs. The game is probably just too quick for him, and probably to physical. I have seen him play for Argentina; he is limited and simply plays infront of the back 4.

He probably just doesn't fit into West Ham's system. South American players seem to have trouble adating to the English game, and he is probably just another one.

I think he is being poorly treated. He should have more playing time Latin American players usually struggle in thier 1st season in the primer league. Because the pace of the league. But give him time he will be one of the best players in the primership.
