Sometimes. My girl is 16 and every once in awhile she acts like a child and she sometimes claims she is just to get out of things like book club meetings.

Its been awhile since I was 16 but I think pretty much felt like a 16 year old. I had some responsibilty (job...) but I was still treated like a kid. Had a bedtime, parents telling me what I could or could not do. I only felt like a little kid when I was treated like one. Same thing when it came to adult things. I felt like I was mature for my age; I didn't act like a little kid (well maybe a couple of times) so I guess a 16 year old feels like what he is treated as.

I don't think it's hormones really. I think it just depends on whether your feeling serious about something one day, and just goofing off another. I sometimes get into a serious mood and want everything to go perfect, whether most days I'm just goofing off enjoying high school the best I can.

oh yea! they think they know enough about the world to run it. but when things dont go their way, or times get hard, they want to be babied. thats the toughness of being a teenager. old enough to not be a child, too young to be an adult.

Yes, that's why they are referred to as children. Adolescent hormones have not settled down yet.
