Check the wires that plug into the firewall under or near the master cylinder.(cluster of 8-10 wires)
Inside of the connector the big red wire end corrodes and causes car to loose all power.
I have seen this happen several times on these early GM's and repaired them by cleaning and/or replacing terminal ends.
No fusible links on this early GM.

You got a short. Do this. pull all your fuses from your fuse block, and change the Batt fuse if it is fused as you say. then, remembering where each fuse value goes (write it down if it's not clearly labeled), start installing them untill one blows. The short will be in this leg of the electrical system. Get a electrical schematic of you car and look for it.

On the firewall, check and replace the voltage regulator. Also make sure that your battery has a good ground, and clean the terminals.

need a 12 volt test light// check hot cable from the battery through each circuit find where it becomes dead then replace broken wire or fusible link
