I am thinking of pre-ordering Halo 3 when there is a set release date in November(or whenever), but only if you get the game on release day...and not having to wait for it to arrive days later.

You receive it on release day. They will actually ship it the day before the release day.

If you Pre-Order/Reserve at the store they will sell it to you the day it is released. If you go through a site and that site will send it to you it is shipped usually the day before release, you still get it after release. If they have copies BEFORE release they may send it a day or two before, assuming they have it that early, knowing it will be in the mail on release day.

Last time, when I pre-ordered World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, it came 1.5 weeks late. Usually, though, games are shipped so that they come ON the day of release.
Sometimes, though, you have to pick it up from the store if you ordered it from, say, a superstore.

Most of the time, when you pre-order something, you get it on release day. Its a rarity when you get the game on shipping day. If you pre-order Halo 3, release day is when you should get it, unless you hear otherwise from the place you pre-ordered it from.

It is shipped once the company you order it from has it in their inventory.
My suggestion if you want to do it as a preorder is that you order it with the stipulation that you can pick it up in a local store. That way you don't have to wait for it to ship out of their inventory.

relies upon on what agency you ordered from and the position you stay. Il assume you preordered amazon? I were given darkish souls the second one day after it become released and that i stay close to dc. I preordered from gamestop because of more advantageous guns with multiplayer maps.

i preordered a movie before and it was sent out to me on the release date. i got it a couple days later.
