Most all fish spend time in an energy-saving state that can be called
"rest", and we might even call their behavior "sleep", though it is probably
different than "sleep" in most land
animals. Many fish, like Bass and perch, rest on or under logs at
night. Coral reef fish active in the day, hide and rest in crevices
and cracks in the reef to avoid being eaten at night.
The resting behavior of fish is very different from their behavior the
rest of the day. Many minnows, for example, which are very active in
schools during the day, scatter and remain motionless in shallow
water at night. Many fish "rest" or "sleep" during the day and are
active at night instead, but almost all fish sleep.
There are some animals that never stop swimming, like many species of
shark, however, they HAVE to keep moving to push water through their mouths
in order to breathe, and they may still sleep while moving,
we just don't know yet. (please not i coppied this answer from a question i asked so i didnt know till now!)

sure they do! Fish sleep! they sleep with their eyes open! so do no longer hassle them on the same time as they are snoozing!!! gold fish sleep too! gold fish sleep on the backside of the tank. once you spot them stay there and don't circulate that's propose they are snoozing. for another fish they could sleep on the same time as they are floating interior the midst of the water. you are able to tell no count if or no longer they are snoozing or no longer. my gold fish sleep at evening maximum the time when I turn off the sunshine or interior the early morning. (i like Fish and that i've got many fish at living house.)

yes goldfish do sleep,at night when its qiut they get a little tired but the thing is hey slepp with there eyes open so you dont know if there asleep the only way to find out if they are asleep is if they are at the bottom not moving the reason why they dont sleep with eyes closed is because they dont have eye lids this is why hen they die at a certain point they have there eyes open all animals sleep just in all different ways because of there feactures sometimes.

Not in the true sense of sleep, they do shut down one half of their brain at a time to rest though. This is due to the fact that breathing is not an automatic reaction for them and if they actually went to sleep they would drown.

I think they might. At night, I see them either resting or sleeping at the bottom of the tank, it's possible.
My other fish do it too and they also know when it's time to eat.

No, they only have attention spands of 3 seconds. By the time they feel tired they will probably forget. Get a pet the actually has feelings and a attention spand!
