I'm old enough to remember the Vietnam protests, and the eventual effect it had...eventual as in over a few more years the troops were finally home.

Do you think the current protests will have any effect in bringing home the troops from Iraq?

You're a pretty vocal bunch on here, with a lot of diverse views, all welcome to express on my questions!

I think if one were to compare the two conflicts it would be easy to see there is a huge difference. Like it or not, our participation in both wars was and is for good and noble causes. The difference between the two is that the war in Vietnam had become a ''cash cow''. Sure, we were fighting to free the south Vietnamese people from the communists in the north, but the hidden cause is that the war had become very profitable for American business (and in turn, the American economy) that the ''powers that be'' really didn't want the war to end. So for years we were never pursuing a victory over the VC. While any war is a profitable venture for business, the war in Iraq being no exception, people today are more informed and aware, so those same ''powers that be'' can't lead us blindly for years, while they build their bank accounts. So to answer your question about the current protests, I think if nothing else, they will help raise awareness in the masses that choose to ignore, and more importantly it lets those ''powers that be'' know that we are watching!

Protests do no longer do something different than alert the final public and the government as to subject concerns that a small or great team has issues of. interior the tip it might desire to reason some substitute yet a great form of the time it would not.

No, don't think so...but they did succeed in ticking off a lot of us veterans.
