I have just been given a T-Mobile Motorola E550 mobile phone and I have an O2 sim card. When I turn the phone on with the O2 sim card in I get the message 'Enter Subsidy Code'. Does anyone know this code or please can you tell me what I need to do? Thanks.

You have to pay money to T-Mobile to get the phone unlocked. Some phone shops do this for around £10.00 xxxxxxx

The phone was probably stolen and locked by the network. Best thing you can do is throw it in the bin unless the person who gave you it can prove it was theirs to start with.

It also possible that the security lock may be on and somebody has forgotten the code and you get 3 attempts to unlock it if you fail then it will lockup and you will need a puk code from the network provider to re-activate the phone again.

The phone has to be unlocked or carrier branded.
