Music Video Television, right? I cannot recall the last time I saw anything but reality shows on MTV. Why did this happen?

it started with one program. and due to it's popularity, they've expanded it into the entire network's programming.
but this is why they started up mtv2 on extended cable, so they could still play the music videos for their namesake. but i hear even mtv2 has been sucking too. and that there's an mtv3 coming out soon. they do play some videos on mtvU which i get on campus. it's usually just an handful of up-and-coming artists, but it usually is more my cup of tea.

MTV get's more money from companies to run their ads during TV shows. That's basically why they keep making these shows, just to run commercials and get paid for doing it.

only dumb scripted shows like the Hills & such. this is unhappy. Even on TRL - a prepare committed to song, they only play approximately 2 seconds of the video & even then some stupid 15 year previous interrupts it! I hate MTV!

This is a very good question. I agree with the answer above. Today's TV has gotten so bad, that all people want to see is nothing but garbage.

Because (sadly) that's the kind of sh*t that gets high ratings. They should really rename the channel RTV for "Reality Television."

i agree with everyone.. man all tv has gone bad..we lost nickelodeon, mtv, fuse, american idol (it used to be better!) you know... we lost it to money and advertising and stuff.
