I'm not talking about heroes like Spiderman, Superman or Batman...
I'm talking about people that you know very well and admire...
By my side, my heroes are my mother, whose i have very little memory and my father, who fights for his survival for over 30 years...

I have 3 heroes - they are my Mum, my sister and my Gran.
It sounds cheesy but they are 3 strong women from different generations and they make me so proud. My Gran has had to go through losing her soul mate at 54 and then losing her youngest son. My Mum had to bring up 2 daughters in a rough area on her own with no money. My sister lost her best friend at 21.
I know everyone has had tough times, but they have all gone through these things with determination, strength and dignity and I look up to each of them. They are there for me every day even though I live 100's of miles away from them.

My actual hero is not a real person but in a way gave me something to live for when I felt down. I'll explain:
As a child I always loved the TV show Doctor Who and was upset when they cancelled it in the late 80s. Anyway I moved on and grew up but I always remembered this show. As a student I got a few DVDs of this show and I really enjoyed them.
Later on I began to suffer from severe depression and my life was very bad indeed. I was never happy for long and had nothing to live for. I did not want to kill myself but I did not want to live anymore. I let the world slip past me and just lived a sad grey life with no care for the future.
Then one day I read they were making a new series of Doctor Who and I decided I wanted to live long enough to see that at least. So I began to take care of myself a bit as I didn't want to end up dead before I had seen it. Eventually I managed to get myself out of the rut I was in because I wanted to see my childhood hero again. Looking back I am astounded that I turned my life around so far just to see a TV show but that was the exact nudge I needed to save myself.
So he may not be a real person but in a very real way Doctor Who saved me from what I was doing to myself and because of that Doctor Who is my hero.
As for other heroes I admire Gandhi and Sokrates because they lived their lives in a very moral way and were totally true to their beliefs. My other heroes are my grandparents who managed to do very well with very little (as did everyone in Britain during the wars).

My husband is the hero in my life, he is always helping elderly ones at the weekend fixing doors etc for them. Always thinking about others, even after a full week of work. Im lucky to have him. I also think my mom is a hero in my life as she has breast cancer at the moment and is looking after her mom who is in hospital and her aunt who is depending on her. She is also working nights at the moment, as well as travelling a 9 hour journey there and back every month so she can see her family. She seems like superwomen to me.

Many people have been my hero at different times in my life. I fear I could never name any of them, because who would be listed first even among the heroes without negating the importance of the others? If I had to list just one... I'd have to say myself. For having the wisdom to follow the guidance of all of my heroes. Thanks to them all! And great question.

my dad because he was there for me whenever i needed him for anything, he died last year and was very sick for 10 years and kept on going no matter what faced him, he had his leg amputated and his toe, plus whent through many other surgeries, and all he said is how are you doing today, and if your day was good or not. he never complained about any of his pain, and would give his last dollar to you if he knew you needed it. i miss him very bad, he also had a quad. bypass heart surgery, pacemaker, and was a diabetic and giving himself shots every day without complaining. he would help anyone.
