Most all are based on truth; most are about royalty.

The writers could not speak against the Queen & King/ Monarch/ Dictator / Pharo like we speak against the President. This caused many to write stories about events happening using mystical creatures like mermaids, witches, and unicorns.

In fact, most ended in tragedy and were quite morbid and it was Walt Disney who took the common fairty tale and gave it a happy ending. Han Christain Anderson's "Little Mermaid" ended up with the Prince marrying the Sea Witch and the Little Mermaid commiting suicide becoming sea foam.

"Mary had a little lamb" - about Teenage pregancy ... "Ashes- Ashes we all fall down" - about the black plague. Fairy tales were heavily used to help adults teach childreen about real scary stuff around them --- to warn them without shutting the child down.

Interesting how Disney's spin had taken away any sense of fear. Seems many in our Disney culture are fearless. Many good points/ and bad points with this. Guess time will tell.

No, that's why we only read about them when we are kids. When we believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, God, etc. No i don't believe that any fairytales are true.

Jesus once said that unless we become like little children we can by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. I guess what he means is that we must love like them because their love is pure and believes all things. In the same way we must believe Jesus because of His great love for us. 1Jo 4:8, He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. And remember the verse "love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things..love never fails" 1 Cor. 13: 7-8
