Make sure your mask is well vented, Keep your hair out of the mask then do what people who wear glasses have to do breath down.

There are a few ways of doing this:

- Commercial anti-fog can be bought at diving stores but can set you back quite a few dollars for a small bottle;

- Most of my buddies and I spit into the mask, making sure the inside of the lens is coated with a thin layer of saliva, and wait for it to dry. When dry, it is quite an effective anti-fog.

- Another strange solution comes from the chief of my unit. He swears by applying a layer of Johnson & Johnson 'No More Tears' bath foam (this would translate to any bath foam which has an eye-friendly, non-irritating formula) to the lenses. None of us has actually tried this however.

- As a last, desperate resort, you can breathe in and out through your mouth instead of your nose.
