My 2 month old sometimes sleeps more than 4 hours during the day. Does that mean he is growing and will that mean he will sleep less at night?

Babies sleep when they need it, regardless of what time of day or night it is :)

He is probably going through a growth spurt as babies release the chemical they use for growing in their sleep. I have an 8 month old that sleeps 4 hours during the day (total, not all at once) and he still sleeps all night so I wouldn't worry about it.

Our son would sleep four hours at a time during the day. It doesn't mean anything necessarily. Growth spurts will mean he will sleep longer or more but you'll notice an increase in appetite as well. Also, it doesn't mean he'll sleep less at night. He'll probably go for four hours at a time over night as well. (maybe you'll get lucky and he'll sleep five straight hours overnight...ours did after only 1 month)

They are growing while they sleep. I have not seen medical proof of it but you will believe it when you see how fast they grow. As for sleeping less at night it's hard to say with a infant they kind of sleep when they want no matter what you do. lol

Consider yourself lucky. My daughter didn't sleep for more than an hour at a time til she was six months old. It doesn't mean that he will sleep less at night-your best bet is to let him sleep as long as he wants.

At two months old, there is no guarantee how much they will sleep through the night, you can't really control something like that. Your baby will sleep more if it needs more sleep. They can determine what their bodies need when they need it. Don't worry, things change very fast month to month with babies.

at that age they pretty much sleep about 18 hours a day. its perfectly normal. it doesnt mean hes growing, just that he needs that much sleep. but at this stage he should be able to sleep pretty much through the night, its important early on to let babies know that when its dark, we sleep. try to get a routine so that he will sleep at nighttime.

If he sleeps well at night, let him be. If he doesn't sleep well at night you might want to wake him up.
