I've learned long ago never to trust mere words and only to trust actions. Once the space aliens prove themselves to me as being beneficial, only then will I believe them. Until then, I won't believe they are automatically harmful (that road leads to unprovoked attacks, like your shotgun example), but will just stay... wary.
Did it occur to you that almost *any* group of beings without harmful intentions will, once shot at, *turn* harmful? Thanks for ruining it for the rest of us :-)

What makes you think that Aliens are bunch of liars and manipulating like humans? What makes you think that they are uncivilized? They don't show themselves because humans can't even get along w/ each other, can you imagine how poeple would act when they see an Alien, exactly like how you would act. When humans stop acting like bunch of animals, then maybe you will see an Alien. (Of course, some people are already civilized, compassionate, giving, respectful, honest, and so on)

Funny you should ask, I am forever getting knocks on the door from weird "beings".....trying to sell me damn health insurance or to change my electric supplier etc!!! GRRRR I was going to solve the problem with one of them notices to put on the door, but I think I like your idea MUCH BETTER....a shot gun should sort out these unwanted visits by alien entities just nicely!!

depends there are all kinds of science fiction stories about what it will be like when or if aliens come
some have them as trying to kill or even eat us, some have them as friends
we better hope they come in peace because they may have much better weapons then us!
