my insurance will pay for a hospital grade breast pump but I can't find anyone who will sell me one. I can not afford to pay up front for one and have to find someone who will bill my insurance. Because I have a preemie it must be hospital grade. I have contacted the hospital and medical supply companies the lactation consultant, trust me everyone. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Are you sure that your insurance will pay to buy a pump, or rent one? you can rent pumps from the hospital or pharmacy, you just buy new tubing for it . I have never heard of anyone with insurance or not buying hospital grade pump, only renting because they can cost upwards of a thousand dollars

I don't kno where you are but this is Medela's direct contact in the states. Perhaps they can help you, or will send you one direct and bill your insurance company. Do you have a letter or something to PROVE your insurance company will foot the bill??? If not, get one ASAP.

Will the insurance company pay for a rental pump? Hospital grade are super expensive to purchase (over $1000 I think).

Why wouldn't a Medela Pump In Style or a similar pump work? I don't know of any reason it wouldn't work for your situation. Are you exclusively pumping? With a prescription for a pump, your insurance should help pay for one.

The only thing I've found so far is this:

http://www.drugstore.com/qxp143445_335997_sespider/medela/pump_in_style_original_breastpump.htm

It says its hospital grade. I would call the insurance company again and see about reimbursement process. I really hope that helps. Maybe talk to the NICU nurses also see what they think.

I know you can rent them www.mothersmilk.com and they are hospital grade. If you can't for some reason find someone that will bill your insurance why not just rent one? Hope this helps.......
