Sterling silver is always 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals.

Traditionally, copper was the metal most commonly alloyed with silver to produce sterling. However, in recent years there have been several sterling silver alloys introduced into the marketplace that contain metals other than copper. For example, the "anti-tarnish" sterling silvers are 92.5% silver and then 7.5% other metals--various metals are used depending on the manufacturer of that specific sterling.

By law, the only thing .925/sterling silver means is that it has the 92.5% silver content. The remaining metal content is at the discretion of the manufacturer.

925 means it is real sterling silver. I get mine off of QVC and that is what they told me about the 925.
