China economy is smaller than Japans, and China economy is export based, and is not complex economy compared to those in the west. China economy may be growing faster than Japan that is because its was at very low base to begin with. Overtime, China economic growth will slow down because there so much China can export, and competitor countries will manfauctuerer cheaper than China. China needs 50 years of this growth just to catch up with the west. China will end up similar to its nuisance Tawian in economic size, and income, and China will be democratic over time. Wealthy countries, tend to like politcal freedom with all that extra money.

China's economy is growing faster than Japan's, but I would not say that overall it is better than Japan's. In terms of per capita income, poverty levels, etc, Japan has a much better economy for now. But watch out! China is growing very fast, and given it's population, it (and eventually India) will be the next economic superpower.

The ONLY purpose of an economy is to satisfy consumer needs. Consumers are served far, far better in Japan than in China; therefore Japan has by far the better economy.

If you want to talk about Economic growth, that's another conversation.

It's NOT. Japan is second only to the US as far as income is. And remember, Japan is about the size of California.
