I'd say opinion. People who know they are right don't always have to prove their point because they know it to be true.

As for people with opinion it's different. They have to prove their point.

I don't even think it is a question of whose ideas have the most force behind them so much as it is *who* grants the ideas their force at the *listener's* end.

It's been my experience that those putting out an opinion will *try* to argue more forcefully, louder for example if the debate is verbal, but....that backfires in the face of facts.

The people who listen to an argument are generally going to be swayed more by facts than opinion (if they are ordinary, rational people that is), and because of that bias, those in the know *have* an advantage. It isn't as *huge* as some folks would believe though because it is easy for people to stop making sense and to be irrational. It is easy for as much as one-third of the population to just follow, just believe, and to just go on auto-pilot and NOT think. That much has been proven.

So in the end, *that* difference is too close to call. Logic and facts on one side barely counter beliefs, opinions and credibility on the other, and sometimes *don't* do so with the wrong audience.

The big thing....at least in these United States mind you, seems to be about having enough money to make the *emotional appeals*. Not just about the flagrant Appeals to Authority (a flaw in logic mind you), but about shaping the message in the Media until it can say *anything* so long as the emotional content *sways you*.

Which is nuts, because there are many, *many* issues where the facts and where knowledge *should have won out long ago*, but havent, partly because of that 1/3 of the population, partly because of the Media making *more money* off of being emotionally manipulative (a.k.a. advertiser friendly).

Or, to put it more simply. I've said time again over in the Sports-->Wrestling area that pro wrestling is a "show" not a "competition".

Here's why. The Media makes it so. It lives and dies by its advertisers, who need *time* to be as micromanaged and fragmented as possible in order for the Spam to work.

And likewise....Modern Journalism is also Fake. It *should* be about fairly and objectively reporting facts and knowledge, but instead has become a *Show* where the game of "How low can you go?" is endlessly played, to insure that there isn't a dry eye or a *fat wallet* in the house. It's become not just about loud, forceful opinion, but about *emotionally Loaded* opinion.

And they defend this by saying that there's a *Show* for every opinion. Disgusting is what it is.

I think it is mostly those with an opinion. Mostly, The ones in the know who are confident in their answer mostly shuts up, but for those that are bragging they push. Anyone can have an opinion in any subject. They can say anything, because it is right for them. Even if what they know is actually not as comprehensive and updated as to those in the know. They just want to force it and be right. Look around you, those who talk more know less. ;-)

I think few people are in the "know" entirely about any given subject. With that in mind, I would think opinions are far more prevalent than facts. Just my opinion!

I usually can weed out those with just an opinion and those that have something to say. Be a discerning listener.

They both put them across forcefully but the person who puts them across the best is the person with inspirational ideas.

Both equally.
Like "in the know" would be scientists.
And "an opinion" would be spiritual believers.

And they both push forth their ideas.
