I am 13 weeks pregnant today with my first. Last night i was laying in bed and thought i felt a fish swimming in my stomach. I only felt it for a couple seconds and it was gone as quickly as it came. I was just wondering if it could have possibly been the baby that i felt moving???

I would say yes it was probably you feeling the baby move.

It can happen very early in the pregnancy or later usually at 16 weeks.
It does come and go.... so don't worry if you don't feel those movements regularly at the beginning....
With my first I felt him move at 10-12 weeks. and Yes it did feel like gas... moving around or a fish swimming in your belly...or butterflies....I felt him move so early because i have a tilted uterus so it was the way my uterus was positioned that allowed me to feel him so early.

If you want to get in tune with his movements... night time is the best time.. although it varies with pregnancy and the routine of your baby... but usually when you go to bed.. drink a small amount of water.. that can usually wake the baby up and motivate him to move for you.. just laying quiet or sitting still you can get in tune with your baby's movements as well.. you will notice that he moves more often at certain times of the day as well...

I think with my first the butterflies were around 3 or 4 months for me, but I felt him move at about 5 months then he was more active at 6. Then he would kick and by 7 and 8 months it was almost like the baby was turning. And you will see your baby move across your tummy. Then 8 and 9 they slow way down and rest up. You will feel them position themselves. I believe what you feel, is the baby growing. That is a life in you. As well as your body growing. I always believe it to be a growth moment.

They say you can feel the first movements from about 16 weeks.

Don't think what you felt would be a movement as the baby would be too small as it's only about the size of a peach. What you felt could of been your uterus growing.

When you feel a kick you will know that it's a kick. For me it felt like gas bubbles at first then as she got bigger felt like she was playing soccer in there..lol

Here are some interesting facts for a 13 week old.

Your baby is growing rapidly! Its crown-to-rump length is 2.6 to 3.1 inches (65 to 78mm), and it weighs between 0.5 and 0.7 ounce (13 to 20g).

All the best

I was about somewhere between 13-15 weeks, I can't remember exactly. I didn't really feel him regularly until about 20 weeks. It felt like a flutter, and then as he got bigger the movement felt more like a person living in there. Congrats on feeling your baby move..you will never forget!

I was almost 5 months pregnant when I was absolutley sure it was the baby moving and not just gas. Before that, I had some stirrings that felt like gas but in retrospect I now know was my little man movin around. At 13 weeks, its hard to say. I won't say its impossible though.

I have heard some women say they felt the baby move that early. But I didn't feel my boy move until I was 17 1/2 weeks pregnant. It all depends on your body type. If you are very thin, it is very possible.

Yeah, I remember feeling the beginnings of the fluttering at about 3 1/2 months. I was very slim then, so maybe that made it more obvious?
