How do maintain the PH of an aquarium? Does Petsmart sell Bettas, and African dwarf frogs? Can jewel Chichlids live with other Jewel Chichlids? Can they live with African dwarf frogs?

pH ... the best thing to do with it is leave it along usually. Most of the fish you buy will already be adjusted to the pH in your area and it won't cause a problem. Most fish can adjust and do well in a fairly wide range of pH, it's only certain fish and when breeding that pH can become really important. Adjusting the pH can be difficult and hard to maintain so don't do it unless you really have to is my thought. None of the fish you mention is delicate enough to worry about the pH at all.

African dwarf frogs do best in a tank by themselves. They see small fish as food and large fish see them as food. So they will most of the time either be a bully or get bullied.

Jewel Cichlids - They do very well in a group. In fact, it's best to have a group of 6 or so in a tank all to themselves. Of course, you need a 30 gallon tank or better with lots and lots of hiding places for this to really work out. The more hiding places the safer the fish feels and the more it will stay out where you can see it. If you only have one hiding place per fish it will stay there and guard it's spot. Jewels are good aquarium fish and breed readily in a setup like this. Quite fun to keep.

Fresh water, if you cannot control your ph, they sell a ph stabelizer you can add to your tank. Depending on your requirements.

I have never seen bettas at petsmart but that doesn't mean they don't sell them. Call first and ask. They may be SMART and keep them in a large tank with other fish.

As far as chichlids, and the clawed frogs, should be no problem as long as your frogs aren't too small.
The frogs can and will take care of themselves.Clawed Frogs live on the bottom and dig under your decorations. They want to hide during the day. Give them several places to lurk during the day. They come out in the evenings and patrol for food. Actually, any time you put food in their water, they smell it and start rooting for food on the bottom.

Chichlids as long as they are bigger than your frog, should be ok as well.

pH can be from 5-9 in an aquarium, depending on species of fish. The jewel cichlids and frogs prefer about 7.6 whereas the betta can live from 5.5-8 without worry. So long as you have a stable ph, don't try to mess with it. pH fluctuations kill more fish than most anything else with beginners. Stores sell the "ph up" and "ph down" products to stay in business with fish sales.

This is just off the top of my head: 1) Petsmart does sell bettas, dwarf frogs AND firebelly toads. 2) Cichlids are notoriously aggressive. I've been made to understand that you can keep them in the same tank as long as they're all relatively the same size. Otherwise, the larger ones will "abuse", if you will, the smaller ones. This goes for smaller fish of different species, so I don't know about putting bettas or frogs in with them if the cichlids are larger. Also, cichlids can get HUGE. Use caution with cichlids I always say.
