Is he concerned about this habit? Does it bother him or you? If it doesn't bother him then why are you concerned with it? Therefore, it's not your business.
Many people find comfort in sucking as a source of nurturing and security when they were a child. If it bothers him, then he needs to speak to his doctor about breaking the habit.

teenage are very sensitive about thir image to others,so tell him or her what would others think of him or her when begin caught. is he or she aware of what is happening? be patient and show love. they can be touch by your life.
