Once it has reached the set temperature on the thermostat it only boosts to keep at that level. If you keep turning it off it will have to restore the temperature each time it comes on.(costing more) Try turning the 'temperature to reach' down by 2 degrees and set water to a lower temp on boiler. This will save you money!

Call your local utility company and ask if they have an energy saver program, wherein someone comes out for a full house analysis. Many areas do this for free but - it's not exactly free as they add surcharges to your bill for this purpose whether it's you or, your neighbor 10 blocks away that takes advantage. They can direct you in the best ways to save on usage, might bring you some goodies and may even give you a discount on your statement for effort.

the best way is to have it kick on when the water gets to a certain temp normally between 120 F and 140 F the kick off at another temp usally between 160 F and 180 F

hope this helps u and stay warm

PS my bioler is set at 140 F and 180 F and it keeps the house warm and right now its about -10 F outside and im in shorts and a t-shirt

i.m not an expert but somebody told me to switch off all the radiators in the rooms that you do not use, and leave it on constant at a set room temperature, by lowering the temperature by just a few degrees you can save quite a bit of money, Having said that when I was young if we were cold we used to get told to go and shove some extra layers on! didn't do any harm, and i'm not nesh like my hubby!!!!
