Because heaven forbid, you might actually make an extra 10 bucks a month.
I am on disability.I got a $36.00 a month raise starting in Jan.In Dec,my rent went up $35.00 a month. So now technically,I am actually making an extra $12.00 a year. But,because of the raise, they say I may now be just over the limit to qualify for medicaid. So,if I now have to pay for my medicare,I'll be farther in the hole than I was before I got that big whopping raise.
It is sad that just by making a few dollars more a month,it puts you in worse shape than before.

Well, food stamps and welfare is taken from you or lowered because they figure you are getting more money and they just can't stand it. Plus that is taken from the state that you are in. But the gov't takes away because when they give you a raise, everything else is raised too.

You reap what you sow. Any body that relies only on Social Security is in for a world of hurt. It was never designed to be your main pension just a small part.
Get your act together while your're still young.

They figure you can live at the poverty line and exist. If a person wasn't smart enough to start saving for their retirement in their youth, then they should reap what they sow. As far as food stamps go, that in my opinion is right up there with welfare. As long as people have a crutch to lean on they will.
